Meet Alisha

Hi, I’m Alisha Boerner, and I work as the Technologies Coordinator for Grow2Serve. This pretty much means that I do anything and everything pertaining to technology, including managing the website and our social media face as well as building our courses in Grow2Serve. I also help with growing our online missions library by finding and posting resources onto our resource site.

Initially, I became involved with Grow2Serve because I was looking for a part-time job while in graduate school. The director of Grow2Serve, Mark, attends the same church I do- South Suburban Evangelical Free Church-and knows me from my work as a youth leader with his children, as well as from my friendship with his wife, Julie. Knowing that I was skilled in multiple forms of technology, and being in need a Technologies Coordinator for Grow2Serve’s budding online presence, Mark approached me about the position. I accepted excitedly. I’ve had a heart for missions since high school, and Grow2Serve’s ministry with missionaries at home and abroad tapped into both my passion to serve and my technological skills at work. I love being an aid to those around me, and Grow2Serve has really given me a great opportunity to both do what I enjoy and have a hand in missions support. I believe that training and providing resources is a major part in helping individuals be effective and strong in what they aim to do, and this is one of the main reasons Grow2Serve does what it does.

At the moment, I stay busy working three jobs, one here at Grow2Serve, another as the Youth Coordinator for South Suburban, and a third as a Technical Aide at 3M. Because of my education in Physics (B.S.) and Biomedical Engineering (M.S.), I hope to eventually work in the Biomedical field as well, supporting fellow engineers and developing/improving medical devices. Currently, I am engaged to my best friend, Nathaniel Vander Schaaf and we are planning our August 2019 marriage together. In any free time I find, I enjoy reading, crafting (needle point, beading, etc.), playing sports- pretty much anything outdoorsy and active-, and working with the youth at church and on the Rosebud reservation in South Dakota.
