Meet Emily Best

I have felt God’s calling in my life to missions since I was a teenager and earnestly sought to fulfill that, going on as many mission trips as possible. But it seemed that every time I found a potential organization to serve with, that particular door would shut. Thankfully, all of those closed doors led me to find my husband, Jason, whom I met on a plane. We now have a happy toddler (Oliver) and enjoy serving in our local church.

A couple of years ago, I felt a nudging in a dream to continue to pursue what God had placed on my heart those many years ago. I reached out to One Mission Society and began to volunteer on their Learning and Development team. Through OMS, I was able to connect to Grow2Serve as a facilitator and am now working to help build courses for Grow2Serve.

At the beginning of the pandemic, I decided to become a stay-at-home mom and am currently homeschooling my son. I stay busy on the leadership team of a local MOPs group and am still with OMS as a volunteer. We love to hike, I’m an avid reader, I’ve really gotten into baking, and I really enjoy a big cup of iced coffee. I have my BA in Intercultural Studies and an MA in Cultural Anthropology and have served in local churches as a youth pastor, children’s ministries teacher and director, and as an admin.
