Meet Christina

Hi! My name is Christina Schott. I have multiple roles at Grow2Serve, but my title is Program Manager for Operations (PMO). As the PMO, I handle day-to-day operations and am currently the main person responding to services@grow2serve.com.  If you need technical support or want to inquire into Grow2Serve, I’m your point of contact. I’ll work to resolve issues and answer your questions. I can also provide consultation on adult learning, instructional design, cross-cultural equipping, and church missions strategy.

I have a heart to work alongside churches and missions organizations to send short-term and long-term missionaries. I currently serve as a missionary on staff with United World Mission and am assigned to work with Grow2Serve in cross-cultural training. My personal experience includes living overseas as a missionary, serving on mission committees, researching best practices in missions, and developing training programs. I bring my knowledge and experience to churches and missions organizations as they seek to emphasize missions and effectively engage in mission. I am able to provide guidance on developing a missions strategy, developing training for missionaries, and planning and executing mission trips that will have an eternal impact.

While I was living overseas as a missionary, God led me to return to the U.S. to prepare others to serve Him cross-culturally. During my time overseas, I saw God do amazing things and saw Him in new ways. I also experienced and saw the hardships of living and serving as a cross-cultural missionary. When short-term mission teams joined us, I saw their struggles and offenses and the ways they were beneficial to our ministry.

When I returned to the U.S., I struggled readjusting to my own culture and felt a little lost and confused. In response to God’s leading, I returned to school to complete a Master’s Degree in Intercultural Relations. My courses were interdisciplinary, so I learned concepts of intercultural communication, adult learning principles, process of change, change agentry, ethnicity and intergroup relations, leadership and adult learning, culture in the organizational context, intercultural context of training, and organizational development. I focused my studies on training and short-term missions.

While in grad school, I married my husband Ben, who is the love of my life. Ben is a federal criminal investigator. He used to conduct criminal investigations for the U.S. Air Force, but separated from the Air Force in 2014 while we were stationed in Alaska. We moved to Virginia in the Washington, D.C. area when Ben started with his new employer.

I’ve been with United World Mission starting in February 2016. I’m in the process of raising financial support in order to do ministry with Grow2Serve full-time. Because of this I’m working on a limited basis, but greatly look forward to doing full-time ministry. If God leads you to help me with support, you can make contributions through http://uwm.org/missionaries/31513/.
